Pamper Your AC This Fall

Fall is here, Indiana! As the days start to become a little colder each week, it’s time to say “Thanks!” to the hardest working appliance of the summer – your air conditioner!

The summer months can be brutal on your outdoor AC unit, which is why it’s extremely important to make sure your air conditioning system gets the proper check up and TLC it has so graciously earned.

Here are a few ways to give your heating and cooling system a little love before winter comes!

A Clean AC is a Happy AC

Keeping a clean system is a vital, yet easy, part of making sure your AC unit continues to perform in tip-top shape! Whether your unit is on the dusty side or if it’s being used constantly, your AC unit is guaranteed to get dirty and can even clog up.

One small way to help keep your system performing well is to always check the indoor air filters. A dirty air filter can block airflow and reduce your system’s efficiency by 5% or more!

But air filters do more than just keep dirt and debris out of your home; by not changing your filter you can exacerbate seasonal allergies, asthma, or other respiratory conditions. At BNG, we recommend you change your air filter every 3 months.

Just like your air filters, you’ll need a technician to clean your evaporator coils, as they collect gunk over time that limits the efficiency of your unit. Bent coils can also be straightened or replaced at this time. Keeping your coils in good condition will extend the life of your unit, and leads to a nice cool breeze come summertime.

Avoid Warranty Problems

With any big purchase, a company is required by Federal law to make a warranty available for you to read prior to finalizing your purchase. While your coverage may vary, you should always read through the fine print and make sure you understand your heating and cooling system’s warranty and the process to submit a claim.

If you have a warranty with your professional HVAC provider, like BNG, they can help you make sure you never lapse on your warranty by having a routine maintenance plan. Through regular maintenance and inspections you are already adhering to warranty standards in minimizing any issues that may arise.

Getting your heating and cooling system checked early and often can catch minor issues before they become major problems, leading to costly emergency repairs.

Without a routine maintenance plan, you might inadvertently void your manufacturer’s warranty and have to pay for repairs out of pocket – and nobody has time for that!

Schedule an Appointment

We’ve said it once, we’ll say it a million times: a routine maintenance plan for your heating and cooling system will keep you comfortable and stress free all year round! With a small investment in service, your system will run better, cost less, and be more reliable.

By completing your maintenance check at the end of summer, you’ll not only save some headaches when the temperatures start climbing back up next year but you can breeze into the fall with peace of mind knowing BNG has got you covered. After all, we’ve been keeping our neighbors comfortable since 1946!
